on October 11th, we made a pretty epic return after a nearly three year hiatus, we honestly weren’t sure how we’d go over, but as Shawn put it, punk’s message of social justice fit perfectly with the mission of the Bar Foundation. The audience seemed to really enjoy our set with calls for “encore, encore!”
We shared the bill with The Dead End Streets and Centralians, who delivered two great sets of soulful R&B – horns, backup singers, and one dude even whipped out an accordion! Centralians set us up nicely with a powerful rendition of “Testify” which really set the stage for our face melting set!.
Shawn “introduced” us with “and now for completely different” as we launched in to a 5 song block of God Save The Queen, London Calling, Rock & Roll Radio, Waiting Room, and Holiday in Cambodia. We had the room! We had been saying “either it’s going to be lit or quite awkward”. It was LIT. Seeing friends and pats colleagues dancing throughout out set was just awesome.
At first the stage at City Winery Pittsburgh seemed maybe a little too big, but Shawn, Tim, and Barry were all over the place with a high energy stage presence that fired up the audience.
What a great night. Probably one of the best sets we’ve played.
